---------------------------------------------------------------
In the new Franz Marc Museum in Kochel two collections have been brought together, so since 2008 works from the collection of the Franz Marc Foundation and from the collection of Etta and Otto Stangl have been presented.

While the extensive collection of Franz Marc's works concentrates on the major representative of the early avant-garde period of the 20th century, the Etta and Otto Stangl collection containing a much wider selection of paintings and work on paper expands this perspective to the most important protagonists of classic modernity. The collection of Etta and Otto Stangl building on the art collection of Rudolf Ibach comprises important aspects of classic modernity. As well as the art of the "Blaue Reiter" with particular focus on Franz Marc, the "Brücke" expressionism is also represented with important works. There are also important paintings from the representatives of "ZEN 49", the group of abstract painters who teamed up in the Stangl Gallery in Munich after the Second World War. Following the “Blaue Reiter” they based their paintings on the idea of the "spiritual in art".
